    Contempt

Systemic oppression, conformity and the silencing of dissenting voices. "Mentally sick"—a label used to control.

Mentally sick. Mentally sick is not a condition.
To run naked, to sing to no music,
Is all from a broken system, a killing nation,
With its leaders, leaders you can't mimic.
No role models—why would you be sober, son?

Mentally sick, they will label you when you ask,
When you push questions that threaten their status.
"Contempt"—the new word on the block, check the risk.
Added to it, my son, the cornrows on your head are abuse,
An abuse of their ways of conformity, carrying the mask.

Mentally sick, they labelled men of intellect,
Those who thought of negritude and its glory.
But all that ended them, forced to pay for the fact.
Be it true, the justification is you have to say sorry.
