A lament and a charge: how educated men uphold violence, erase the dead, and call submission peace.

Where is the sense of humanity in all of you?
The audacity of saying “we are irrational”—
How senseless, considering how childishly you play,
How easily you toy with another life,
Just because you want your power to be felt,
Forgetting that among the common man, favour is earned.
Do not uproot the pumpkin as you leave,
For that is the work of educated fools.
How must a man stand to show submission?
How unreal that blood must pour,
That life must be laid down,
Simply because humanity is dismissed,
Because the top dogs said no,
Forgetting they are only whistles in the game,
And after countless wins, they too will be forgotten.
Leave aside your tribal homies—how can you allow
A man to die on your watch?
Ssegirinya died, and you dressed lies in court to bury it.
Where does that leave you?
If you are not educated fools, then you may be worse.
Shakur, another soul shut out from the bright warmth of the sun,
Just because he did not share your principles.
The absurdity is this: you recruit the desperate youth,
Blind them with money, christen them JAT,
And call it order.
Educated fools.
